Secretary

Denise Myer, MS

Denise’s career in safety began in 1999 as an employee of Delta Air Lines.  She was offered a position as an in-house safety auditor after attending a training class in safety, given by the safety department.  Denise spent almost a year learning all aspects of airline safety and was responsible for 21 domestic cities and 2 international cities.

When she retired from Delta in 2005, Denise found that her safety knowledge did not transition easily to other industries, so she returned to college at UNR.  There was not a safety program at the time, so Denise took environmental studies and received a BS in Environmental Economics, with minors in statistics and technical writing.  Two years after graduation she landed a job as Environmental Manager for American Buildings and worked closely with the safety manager.  Denise preferred safety over environmental and pursued a master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety Management from Columbia Southern University and completed those studies in 2018.  In August of 2021 Denise received certification to be a trainer for OSHA 10 & OSHA 30.

She has been employed by The Ames Company since June 2020 as EHS Engineer.
