Justin McDonald: A Collaborative Voice in Motorcycle Safety

Justin McDonald is a dedicated advocate for rider education who believes that the most meaningful impacts in motorcycle safety are achieved through teamwork and community effort.

Since the Spring of 2022, Justin has served as the Nevada Rider Program Administrator, though he considers his most important role to be a member of the Nevada Rider motorcycle safety program team. He firmly believes that the program’s successes are a collective achievement, and it is through the shared vision and hard work of the entire group that they accomplish great feats together to improve state-wide safety and rider access.

Justin’s foundation in rider education began in 2002 as a certified Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) RiderCoach. Driven by a desire to support his fellow instructors, he became a certified MSF RiderCoach Trainer (RCT) in the Fall of 2022. In this capacity, he helps mentor the next generation of coaches. By guiding candidates through comprehensive training and utilizing structured, rotating assignment rounds, he ensures future coaches receive the peer support and preparation they need to succeed on the training range.

His commitment to collaborative safety efforts extends to the national level. Justin serves on the Executive Board as the Secretary for Skilled Motorcyclist Association – Responsible, Trained and Educated Rider (SMARTER – smarter-usa.org), working alongside others to promote research-based, data-driven motorcycling safety policies. Additionally, as the Western Region Representative and an Executive Board member for the State Motorcycle Safety Association (smsa.org), he partners with safety leaders across the country to share resources, standardizes practices, and improve rider programs.

For Justin, motorcycle safety is never a solo endeavor; it is a shared commitment to lifelong learning, mutual support, and ensuring every rider makes it home safely.
