September 15th (11 AM to 12 PM) Virtual Chapter Meeting Information:

NAMI In Our Own Voice is a lived-experience presentation delivered by trained NAMI presenters who share their personal journeys with mental health challenges and recovery. The presentation focuses on increasing understanding of mental health conditions, reducing stigma, promoting hope and recovery, and providing practical ways to support individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

Ashley Lunt is the Forensic Program Manager and a Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist Supervisor with NAMI Northern Nevada. Her work focuses on expanding peer support across behavioral health and criminal justice systems, strengthening community partnerships, and creating opportunities for individuals with lived experience to use their experiences in service of others. Ashley is passionate about reducing stigma, supporting individuals and families impacted by mental health challenges, and demonstrating the power of recovery, connection, and lived experience. She is currently pursuing a masters in social work and justice management at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Melanie is a wife, dog mom, avid reader, and lifelong learner who is passionate about personal growth, connection, and helping others feel less alone. Through her own lived experiences and personal growth journey, she has learned the importance of vulnerability, self-compassion, resilience, and finding hope through connection. Melanie is a NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group and Peer-to-Peer facilitator, where she has the opportunity to use her experiences to support others and create a space where people feel heard and understood. She is grateful for the opportunity to share her story in her own voice and hopes it reminds others that they are not alone, their experiences matter, and healing is possible.
